KYLEIGH PINELL SIGNS WITH UB

SHORELINE STING IS VERY PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT 18U BLUE PLAYER, KYLEIGH PINELL, HAS SIGNED TO PLAY COLLEGE BALL WITH NCAA DIVISION II, UNIVERSITY OF BRIDGEPORT.  KYLEIGH IS A STANDOUT PLAYER IN THE STING ORGANIZATION AND, IN THIS, HER SENIOR YEAR, HAS BEEN AN INTEGRAL PART OF WATERFORD HIGH SCHOOL’S UNDEFEATED SEASON, AND THEIR DRIVE TO STATE CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND.

UB HEAD COACH, DAWN STEARNS SAID, “WE ARE VERY HAPPY TO HAVE KYLEIGH AS THE NEWEST MEMBER OF THE PURPLE KNIGHT FAMILY.  SHE IS A VERSATILE PLAYER, WHO LISTENS AND IS VERY COACHABLE.  SHE WILL FIT VERY WELL WITH THE GIRLS ON OUR ROSTER AND SHE WILL GET A GREAT EDUCATION.”

COACH STEARNS IS A FORMER SHORELINE STING COACH, WHO HAS ALWAYS BEEN A BIG SUPPORTER OF STING SOFTBALL.

KYLEIGH PLANS TO STUDY NURSING AT UB.  SHE LIVES IN WATERFORD WITH HER PARENTS.  WE CONGRATULATE KYLEIGH AND WISH HER WELL WITH THE BALANCE OF THE HIGH SCHOOL SEASON, THE SUMMER SEASON AND ON HER UPCOMING CAREER AT BRIDGEPORT.

10U AT BOMBERS “ROUND ROBIN” SCRIMMAGE……….12U OPENS CVFL SEASON

STING 10U VISITED FRANKLIN, CT TO SCRIMMAGE THE CT BOMBERS AND THE CT BARRACUDAS FROM MILFORD ON SATURDAY, APRIL 17.  THE TRIP REPRESENTS THE FIRST COMPETITIVE ACTION FOR COACH DURKIN’S 10U SQUAD.  IN THE OPENING GAME, STING 10U BEAT THE CT BOMBERS, BUT UNFORTUNATELY, DROPPED THE NIGHTCAP TO THE CT BARRACUDAS.  THE GAMES WERE A GREAT LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR STING’S YOUNGEST 2021 TEAM.  PICTURED BELOW, STING 10U IN ACTION IN FRANKLIN.  ALEXA DURKIN PITCHING AT LEFT AND AUBREY CAPORALE AT BAT AT RIGHT.

 

ALSO SATURDAY, THE CONNECTICUT VALLEY FASTPITCH LEAGUE (CVFL) OPENED THEIR 2021 SEASON, WITH 12U STING MEETING THE CT BARRACUDAS IN A DOUBLEHEADER IN MILFORD.  STING 12U WERE VICTORIOUS IN A VERY CLOSE CONTEST, HIGHLIGHTED BY A SENSATIONAL PITCHING PERFORMANCE AND A HOME RUN BY LAUREN VITARISISTING RAN OUT OF GAS IN GAME #2, DROPPING THE CONTEST TO THE BARRACUDAS.

SPRING HAS SPRUNG, AND A YOUNG GIRLS FANCY TURNS TO SOFTBALL……….

THE OLDER PLAYER’S HIGH SCHOOL SEASONS OPENED ON SATURDAY, APRIL 10 IN LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT CONNECTICUT. 

ON SATURDAY, STING 14U WENT TO BEAUTIFUL HATTER’S PARK IN DANBURY, CT AND BEAT THE, ALWAYS POWERFUL DANBURY STORM 16-5 AND 9-8 IN A DOUBLEHEADER.  STING 12U TRAVELED TO PANTHORN PARK IN PLANTSVILLE, CT, WHERE THEY WERE THE GUESTS OF THE SOUTHINGTON LIGHTNING.  PICTURED ABOVE IS STING 12U LAUREN VITARISI AT THE PLATE (ABOVE LEFT) AND BRIANNA SPOSA LAYING DOWN A BUNT (ABOVE RIGHT).  ADRIANNA FRONTE SETS UP BEHIND THE PLATE (INSET RIGHT).

BOTH COACHING STAFFS HAD A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO PREPARE FOR THE UPCOMING SEASON AND SEE THEIR PLAYERS IN COMPETITION.

(STANDINGS ABOVE), WITH AN UNDEFEATED  RECORD OF 5-0-1.  THE TEAM TOOK ADVANTAGE OF A BEAUTIFUL MARCH SATURDAY 27th AND ENJOYED THE BEAUTIFUL OUTDOOR WEATHER FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS PRESEASON, VISITING THE CT WILDCATS, FOR A DOUBLEHEADER IN WOODBRIDGE, CT.  PICTURED BELOW IS PITCHER CHRISTINA ANEIRO.

STING 18U BLUE PITCHER AND JUNIOR AT PARISH HILL H.S., KRISTY ZATOR IS LEADING HER BASKETBALL TEAM TO A POSSIBLE #1 SEED IN THE CIAC CLASS “S” STATE HIGH SCHOOL TOURNAMENT.

FROM THE CHRONICLE NEWSPAPER IN EASTERN CONNECTICUT:  HARTFORD – “KRISTY ZATOR SWISHED FOUR 3-POINTERS, SPARKING AN 8-0 RUN TO BEGIN THE FOURTH QUARTER AS PARISH HILL’S GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM REMAINED UNDEFEATED IN THE CAPITOL LEAGUE WITH A 39-31 VICTORY OVER CAPITOL PREP ON THURSDAY, MARCH 4.  (SUBSEQUENTLY, THE PIRATES WON ONE MORE TO REMAIN UNDEFEATED.)”

CT RAIDERS INDOORS AT FASTPITCH NATION BLOOMFIELD, 4-2 AND 7-0.  ALL FOUR PITCHERS, CHRISTINA ANEIRO, BRIELLE KENNEY, ERIN CERNY AND KYRA MANNING, SAW ACTION AND CONTRIBUTED TO THE SWEEP.  STING 14U CURRENTLY IS HOLDING DOWN FIRST PLACE IN THE LEAGUE.  THEY CONCLUDE THE SEASON ON MARCH 13 VS. CT RAMS.
